Somewhere in the World

gilr2.jpgThis morning our church held a baptism service. It was much more powerful and moving then I would have expected. Everyone from a small little girl, to brothers, a couple that was engaged and even a man that was older in his years were baptized. Of note was our pastor baptizing his future son-in-law (his daughter just got engaged yesterday).I couldn’t help but think of the song below and that somewhere in this world, a little girl and 2 little boys are already chosen for my children. God has circled the day they would meet on his calendar. He knows the paths that will bring them together. He even knows the faces of those that will attend their wedding.Knowing how my mom and dad prayed over this song and for my future spouse, I know it’s never to early to start praying. So future daughter and son-in-laws, “hold onto Jesus, wherever you are”“Somewhere in the World” by Wayne Watson

  1. Enjoyed that song! Just too even think that God is molding someone special for my kids, is amazing. Thanks for fanning my fire with your encouraging words. Keep doing what you do, Bro.

  2. I had to read that post 4 times for it to register correctly in my brain. It really sounded like a guy who is marrying his own daughter got baptized. Freaked me out a bit… πŸ™‚

  3. Clay – You did a great job my friend. Your introduction to those that were being baptized was very real. Underlining the need for community as well. Stef and I appreciated the 180 plug as well (ha-ha)

Mike – Good to hear from you my friend. Yes, knowing that somewhere out there is my future daughter-in-law and son-in-laws (grrrrr) is just almost too much to take in. No hurry for that to get here.

Mudpuppy – I did some editing so that the people that were not at our church don’t think there is something strange going on πŸ™‚ Sorry about that. It made sense in my head.

  4. I have a 14 year old daughter and it dawned on me a couple of days ago that I was about 14 when I met my husband for the first time. Kinda freaks me out! πŸ™‚

Great post! Thanks for sharing this.

  5. Dude, not cool to make me think about my girls leaving me to get married someday! And they are only 1 and 3!!

But, it is neat to know that God has a plan for them and that He will always be in control of their lives when I cannot be around.

The baptism was great, and dittos to Clay. Excellent first round, man!

  6. I had the joy and honor not only to baptize all three of my awesome children, I also had the privilege to officiate each of their weddings. And yes Michael, from the time your little girl is 1 until the time you walk her down that aisle will fly by like a jet airplane. Make sure you savor every moment with those little ones….they don’t stay little for long!

  7. Aaron,
I did not “plan” to plug 180… it must have just been bouncing around in my mind. I can’t wait to break down the tape… and see if we all hit our blocks.
